The Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity/Metro Jackson will break ground Monday morning and blend forces to build a Care-Takers Cottage for security at The Salvation Army's Corps Center at 570 E.

Papa Jordan’s famous pimento cheese sandwiches were the talk of Olde Towne as a new café in Clinton’s historic district opened its doors.

The “soft” opening of Pimento’s Café on Tuesday attracted a crowd of hungry Mississippi College folks and Clinton city leaders who relished the cozy restaurant’s family atmosphere as well.

School adopter program partners schools, businesses

CLINTON — Clinton’s public schools have a long-standing tradition of partnering with local businesses on a variety of projects and events.

“These relationships are always mutually beneficial,” said Dr. Phil Burchfield, superintendent. “When parents and teachers see a business supporting their school, they want to support that business in return. Partnerships like this help keep our community strong.”

Sales tax holiday starts Friday

Mississippi's annual sales tax holiday starts Friday at 12:01 a.m. and will last 48 hours until midnight on Saturday, July 28.

During the event, the sales tax is waived on specific items, according to the Mississippi Department of Revenue.

25th Leadership Greater Jackson Class

The Leadership Greater Jackson Board of Trustees and the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership Board of Directors recently presented the 25th class of Leadership Greater Jackson.

Established in 1987, Leadership Greater Jackson is sponsored by the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership.

The program seeks to identify and prepare the community’s future leadership. The
objective is to build and maintain a network of current and merging leaders who possess the skills and the sense of commitment to improve the community.

Hinds County unemployment down

Hinds County unemployment down

HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Hinds County ranked 12th in the state for the lowest unemployment rate of the 82 counties in Mississippi in August.

Hinds County's unemployment rate in August was 8.6 percent -- down from 9.9 percent in July and the same as August 2010 when the rate was 8.6 percent, according to data released Wednesday by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
