MDWFP, Byram to host youth fishing day at Lake Dockery

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks and the City of Byram will host a youth fishing day at Lake Dockery Saturday, May 4, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is open for youth ages 15 and under who are accompanied by an adult with a valid Mississippi fishing license.

Lake Dockery will open to the general public May 5.

CHS plans Superhero Skate-A-Thon, car show fundraisers

CLINTON — Philanthropic activities are an annual occurrence at Clinton High School, and this year, fundraisers for the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital are taking on epic proportions.

Students can be heroes for Batson at the first Superhero Skate-A-Thon, planned for 6-10 p.m. Monday, April 8 at Funtime Skateland in Clinton.

“Blair E. Batson is the only hospital in Mississippi devoted to helping sick and injured children of all ages,” said event planner and CHS teacher Megan Woodard-Berry.

Children’s books needed for community book drive

From the Clinton Community Development Foundation:

The Clinton Community Development Foundation is conducting its third annual community book drive to collect new or gently used children’s books. The goal of the book drive is to distribute at least one book to each student in grades K-5 in Clinton. In previous years, books have been given to students at Clinton Park Elementary, Northside Elementary and Eastside Elementary. This year the CCDF will expand its distribution to include K-5 students at Clinton Christian Academy and Mt. Salus Christian School.
