Walmart employee stabbed in 'random act' | Crime
CLINTON, MS (WLBT) - A female employee at the Clinton Walmart was stabbed by a man Saturday morning. The knife-wielding man then reportedly paced through the crowded store weapon in hand.
The automotive area was taped off Saturday morning. At about 9 a.m., a man was seen walking down the store's main aisle carrying a folding knife and a club, witnesses said. A female employee from the oil change department ran toward the front of the store, with knife wounds to her left shoulder and her back. She says she does not know the man.
"One of the clerks came through the door, said someone had stabbed her," says witness Willie Frazier, a customer. "We got up, looked through the glass, the guy was out there trying to stab mechanics. Then he came in the store toward the customers, everybody headed toward the front."
The victim was treated at a local hospital and released.
Clinton Police were attempting to get the store's surveillance tape Saturday.
Jackie Spears, 48, of Jackson, Tennessee is charged with aggravated assault in the crime. Clinton Police say it appeared to be a random act.
