Officer injured in I-55 accident
HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT)- A Mississippi Highway Patrol officer was injured when he lost control of his Department of Public Safety vehicle, ran off the road and hit a tree.
The accident happened just before 8:30 Thursday morning on Interstate 55 at the Copiah-Hinds County line, according to MHP.
The car was traveling north when it hydroplaned and left the roadway.
Rescuers used the jaws of life to free the trooper from the wreckage.
He was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.
