MDOT announces I-55 weekend lane closures | Transportation

The Mississippi Department of Transportation has announced lane closures on Interstate 55 over the weekend.

The right lane of I-55 southbound between  Elton Road and Byram will close from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

MDOT will also close a section of the right lane of I-55 northbound between Byram and McDowell Road starting at 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Motorists are advised to use the frontage roads to access I-55 northbound at McDowell Road from Friday evening until Monday morning.

The section of I-55 between Byram and McDowell Road is currently being overlaid as part of $2.8 million project to make emergency repairs to the section of interstate.
