Sudden Hailstorm Pelts Mississippi College Vehicles and Buildings

A sudden hailstorm at Mississippi College on Monday afternoon damaged at least 65 vehicles and shattered dozens of windows in several buildings, new reports show.

Beaver dam floods Branch Creek

BYRAM, MS (MSNewsNow) - A persistent rain left soggy conditions and creeks out of their banks in some areas of central Mississippi New Year's Day. Residents in the Byram area say water came into some homes and threatened many others.

The Branch Creek subdivision off of Gary Road, just south of Jackson to the Byram area, showed water too close for comfort behind a couple of homes.

Utica is now a participating community in the National Flood Insurance Program.

This means those living and working in Utica can purchase federally-underwritten flood insurance.

CPSD implements delayed start to prevent snow days

From the Clinton Public School District:

This school year, students in the Clinton Public School District could miss fewer days because of snow.

CPSD is implementing delayed start times in an effort to keep from canceling school during snow and icy weather. During the 2010-11 school year, school districts throughout the state lost multiple days due to snow in an unusually active winter weather season.
