It took a brave group of dentists to perform a root canal on a big tooth and very big patient Friday.

The Jackson Zoo's male Sumatran Tiger, Kipling, needed to have some dental work done, according to the zoo.

Doctors Michael Holifield, the zoo's veterinarian, Becky Holifeld, Lynn Johnson and Andrew Duke, who practices veterinary dentistry in Mobile, Ala., performed the procedure, the zoo says.

It's a great time to visit Kipling and all the other animals at the Jackson Zoo -- admission is currently half off.

Gnome is a derivation of the Greek word for “earth dweller.” Garden gnomes were first used in German gardens in the mid-1800s.

Byram, MS (WLBT) - The Byram Police Department is asking the public to help identify a man they say attempted to kidnap a woman in the parking lot of Walgreens this weekend.

At about 5:30 Sunday evening, Byram police responded to Walgreens on Terry Road where a woman said she was walking to her car when a man opened the rear door of a vehicle parked next to the woman’s, displayed a weapon and attempted to get the woman in his vehicle.

The woman ran away and the suspect reportedly fled in his vehicle.
